Fat Grafting
Enhance and restore a more youthful appearance!
Fat grafting involves two separate procedures. First, fat is removed from unwanted areas, such as the abdomen, waist or thighs using liposuction. The fat is then used to shape or fill other areas of the face or body.
Where are the most common sites for fat grafting?
Fat injections can be used on the face much like any filler, adding volume to the lips or cheeks, and filling in marionette lines and deep wrinkles. The Brazillian Butt lift involves injecting larger volumes of harvested fat into the buttocks to create a fuller, curvaceous bottom. Fat can also be placed in the back of the hand to create a more youthful appearance.
How long does the procedure take?
Between 1 and 2 hours
What will I experience after the treatment?
People have little discomfort with fat grafting. However, some swelling and bruising are usually noted for the first 2-3 days.
Does it require general anesthesia?
This procedure can be done completely under local anesthesia, or if the patient wishes, IV sedation. General anesthesia can also be used if necessary.
How long will the fat graft last?
Fat cells are living tissue. Typically 25-30% of cells transferred will survive each transfer procedure. The cells will gain or loose volume just like any other fat cells in your body, so diet and exercise can lead to their shrinking. It is common for patients to undergo a second procedure a few months after the initial transfer to achieve best results. At the time of fat harvest, any excess fat is saved, and may be used for future procedures.
